GREON · Care to suit your brief

A new lawn from seed or turf

Seeding and turfing both require prepared soil and aftercare. The choice depends on conditions, how quickly coverage is needed and budget. We agree ground preparation, establishment method and aftercare in the quotation.

A construction site and a garden with old vegetation need different preparation. We distinguish old turf removal, groundworks, soil preparation and seeding in the brief. Where cultivation or stone removal is needed, we recommend suitable additional work. Responsibility for water and new-grass care must be clear before establishment.

Service scope

What to know before booking

We establish lawns from soil preparation to seeding a mix suited to the site and intended use.

When this service can help

  • I am establishing a lawn after construction or groundworks.
  • The existing lawn is unsuitable and the whole area needs renewing.

What we agree beforehand

  • Soil preparation, residue removal and suitable seed.
  • Responsibility for watering and the extent of aftercare.

Preparation and the first few weeks

What makes a successful lawn start

A mix suited to the site

An actively used garden, a formal lawn and a shaded area have different requirements. We match the seed mix to expected use and available care.

Water and aftercare

Maintaining sufficient moisture is important during germination. Water supply, responsibility for watering and the contracted care must be clear before seeding.

Turf laying

Alongside seeding, we establish lawns by turfing, including agreed ground preparation. We assess soil levels and condition, material access and water availability beforehand, agreeing preparation, laying and subsequent watering for each site.

Newly laid turf needs regular watering and time to root. At handover, we set out care requirements and when the area can start being used.

THE LAWN ESTABLISHMENT PROCESS

How is a lawn established?

We choose preparation, seed and timing around soil, weather, water availability and use. The quotation distinguishes establishment from aftercare.

  1. 01

    Site assessment and seed selection

We assess soil, gradient, light and expected use, then choose a suitable grass mix. Any laboratory analysis is agreed separately and is not automatically included in every job.

  2. 02

    Preparation and seeding

We prepare soil to the brief, remove unwanted material and finish the surface. Seed is spread evenly and the area finished using a method suited to the mix and soil conditions.

  3. 03

    Caring for a new lawn

We establish responsibility for watering and further care beforehand, agreeing use restrictions and the first cut according to actual grass condition. GREON aftercare is included in the quotation if required.

New lawn pricing and timing

The price depends on area, site condition, soil preparation, seed mix and agreed aftercare. Soil delivery or screening, groundworks and old vegetation removal are specified to the brief. We confirm duration after assessment. Completing seeding and achieving full grass coverage are different stages; growth depends on weather, water and care.

Turf pricing also depends on material supply, transport, laying method and agreed aftercare.

Questions before booking

Frequently asked questions

Who waters after seeding?

We establish responsibility and aftercare scope in advance. If you need our care service, we include it in the quotation.

When and where is lawn seeding suitable?

Usually in spring or early autumn, when soil is not too cold and sufficient moisture can be maintained. We choose timing according to weather, location and watering arrangements; the calendar alone is insufficient. Light conditions affect seed choice and the expected result. Include photographs and describe shade throughout the day.

When can I use the lawn?

Germination and full establishment are different stages. Grass coverage, conditions and care determine readiness, so one fixed date cannot suit every site. We agree the first cut and normal use according to the lawn's actual condition.

What affects the price, and what information do you need?

Price depends on area, soil condition, necessary groundworks, seed mix and aftercare. We specify soil delivery or screening, old vegetation removal and other work for the site. Send the location, approximate area, surface photographs and machinery access details. Include shade, intended use and water supply, and whether groundworks or aftercare are required.

How is soil prepared, and when is overseeding enough?

Scope depends on site condition. It may include old vegetation removal, cultivation, stone removal, soil screening or replenishment, and levelling. Not every area needs every step. A new lawn is established on prepared ground; overseeding adds seed to existing grass. We assess whether local repairs or full renewal are appropriate for the damage.

Do you also lay turf?

Yes. Alongside seeding, we lay turf with the agreed ground preparation.

Establishing a lawn after land restoration

After clearance and groundworks, we prepare soil and establish a lawn by seeding or turfing. We define old turf removal, soil preparation, final levels and watering availability beforehand, giving restoration and lawn establishment a clear sequence and agreed aftercare.
