What to send for a stump removal quote

Stump measurements

Place a tape measure across the stump so its width at ground level is visible. Include the number of stumps and a wider photograph of the site.

Future use of the spot

Grinding the obstruction below the surface may be sufficient for mowing. For new planting or earthworks, tell us whether the root ball also needs to go.

Access width

Measure the narrowest part of the route to the stump. Note steps, slopes, hard edges and known utilities in the working area.

The site after removal

Grinding leaves a mixture of wood and soil. Extraction leaves a hole and a root ball. We agree removal, backfilling and surface finishing around your plans for the spot.

Grinding or extraction?

How deep can you remove a stump?

Grinding is possible up to 45 cm below ground. We agree the specific depth according to the purpose and site conditions; the maximum depth is not automatically included in the basic rate.

What determines the method?

Above all, the next use, required depth, nearby utilities and room for machinery. Grinding and extraction disturb the ground to different degrees.
